Yep, I moved to New York City. The Big Apple. Manhattan.
It’s been a bit a of change, to say the least, and while it was not necessarily unplanned, it is quite unbelievable to me that we (my wife and I) actually pulled it off. We’re still asking each other if we’re in some sort of waking-dream that both of us are sleepwalking through. We jokingly ask ourselves this, I think, to help remind us that we’re not dreaming and that we do still have bills to pay.
So while I intended this Substack to be about Coffee, it might be changing. Or maybe I create another one. I don’t know. My life has definitely changed and my creative focus has been changing right along with it. I’m accepting the reality of doing things outside of my normal routines, and while it sounds easy to type, it’s not easy to do. But it was needed.
That’s a big reason my wife and I moved up here to NYC from Virginia. She was stuck in a rut of a job for 15 years and I felt the same about my creative endeavors. So thankfully the pieces fell into to their Tetris places and we’ve made it happen.
Don’t worry, I also brought my Espresso machine, because that’s still my thing, even with so many more choices for drinking coffee outside our apartment here. I mean, just around our block there are 3 separate coffee shops. Oh my!
This is the dream! Whatever you choose to do, I look forward to reading it :)
